![]() Senoko Power operates Senoko Power Station and Pasir Panjang Gas Turbine (PPGT) Station. For Senoko Power Station, the installed capacity comprises 1,250MW thermal steam plants, 1,945MW of combined-cycle plants (CCPs) and 105MW open-cycle gas turbine (PPGT).
The electricity generated at the power stations is transmitted via 230kV and 66kV underground cables to substations where voltages are stepped down for supply to customers. The plant development stages are as follows:
Senoko Power Station thermal plant was developed in 3 stages between 1976 - 1983 at a total cost of $1.2 billion. To meet Singapore's power needs and to strengthen the system reliability, 4 units of 131MW gas turbines were installed in 1990-91 at a total cost of $300 million.
To further increase the plant efficiency, these gas turbines were extended into 2 blocks of Combined-Cycle Plants (CCPs) at a total cost of $450 million. The $600 million repowered CCPs 3 - 5 are now commercially operational after its successful conversion from the conventional Senoko Power Station I (comprising three 120MW steam plants) into the most efficient environmentally friendly three 365MW Combined-Cycle Plants. |
